Management of a modern management system company, now operating in a market economy, and creates the conditions necessary for their effective functioning and development of industrial and economic activity. It is about a management system (principles, functions, methods, organizational structure), which is generated by the objective necessity and the laws of market economy relations, associated with the orientation of the firm on the demand and market needs, the needs of individual customers, ensuring the interest of workers in the best end results; use of advanced scientific and technological achievements; regulation of inter-firm relations. The peculiarity of modern management is its focus on the management of the economy at the firm level in terms of scarcity of resources, the need for high-cal outcomes at minimum cost, optimum adaptation of firms to new market conditions. Management system that meets these requirements, the logic and the laws of socio-economic development, must be flexible and efficient.

This is due to continuous improvement in the management of industrial companies of the West in accordance with the objective requirements of production and sales, increasing complexity of economic relations and the growing problem of marketing, the growing role of consumers in shaping the techno-economic and other parameters of production and accelerating scientific and technological progress. Changing conditions of industrial activity, the need for adequate adaptation to its system of governance affect the company’s organizational structure and lead to a redistribution of management functions at the level of responsibility, forms of interaction, etc.

Modern theory and practice of management is particularly important from two points of view.

First, the transition of Russia’s economy to a market economy requires the study of forms and methods of management at the core of economic management – companies, the production department. The practical use of such practices on domestic enterprises and associations – one of the priorities.

Secondly, a wide output of enterprises and associations on the world markets requires study and practice of knowledge management.
